The Festival is only a few weeks away with Exhibitions, Masterclasses and the very popular Shop of Skills ready and waiting. We are also expanding and introducing additional and new elements to our event.
We have eight sessions over Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th August with some great opportunities for children over 7 to ‘have a go’ at four different skills.
Each session is 2 hours either from 10-12 or 2-4 with a maximum of 3 students at each session.
All are bookable on Saturday 18th at our Marquee in Princess Way.
Our crew will be there early to take bookings as this event was very popular in 2016!
New – Yarn Bombing
This is taking off really well, with Shirley and Debi leading the way.
The next meeting is on 29th June at 2pm at the café in the Civic Centre where anyone can drop in and talk and create for this brilliant stitch event.
If you enjoy knitting and or crochet and would enjoy the fun of making sea-creatures to decorate around the Pier – then this is for you!
On the 18th and 19th August we will have a new, fantastic Quilt Expo at the LC.
Visitors will be able to view over 100 quilts drawn from groups and individuals around South Wales as well as vintage and antique quilts plus a chance to see and ‘have a go’ at lace-making.
We will also house our Makers and Traders Market in The National Waterfront Museum of Wales bringing wonderful Welsh textile products and gathering specialised quilting, knitting and sewing Traders for our stitch enthusiasts.
New Schools Project | Decorate a Deckchair
The decorated bollards were a delight in 2016 so we have some schools busy with this as well as our new challenge of decorating a deckchair using the theme of the Sea.
We have distributed 35 of these after a very successful crowd finding plea on Just Giving gave us the cash to buy them.
Brilliant work from our Schools coordinator Alyson and supported by Robi and Shirley!
Thanks to everyone.
