PROMS in the Park is coming back to Swansea later this year.
BBC Wales has now confirmed the event will be taking place at Singleton Park on the evening of Saturday September 9.
The concert will link up with the Royal Albert Hall on the Last Night of the Proms, along with other BBC Proms in the Park concerts in Hyde Park, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
BBC Proms in the Park was last held in Swansea in 2015, having visited Parc Eirias in Colwyn Bay last year.
Frances Jenkins, Swansea Council’s Strategic Manager for Culture, Marketing, Tourism and Events, said: “We’re delighted to have worked in close partnership with BBC Wales to bring BBC Proms in the Park back to Swansea in September.
“This will be the 12th time BBC Proms in the Park has been held in the city, which speaks volumes for Swansea’s capability to host major events of this magnitude.
“With flags waving, footage on a big screen and the traditional fireworks display at the end of the evening, there is sure to be a terrific atmosphere once again for the 8,000 or so spectators we expect to be in attendance.
“Successfully securing BBC Proms in the Park once again also highlights Swansea’s cultural prowess at a time when we’re bidding to become UK City of Culture 2021.”
Rhodri Talfan Davies, BBC Wales Director, said: “It’s wonderful that BBC Proms in the Park is returning to Swansea again this year.
“The audience is always so enthusiastic and welcoming and it promises to be a magical evening of music and song.”
The BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the BBC National Chorus of Wales will be performing on the evening, as well a variety of community entertainment acts before the main event starts.
Solo performers and the event’s conductor will also soon be announced, along with details on how to buy tickets.
Catering and a bar will be available on the evening for food and drink purchases.
