Artist Scarlett Crawford explores the impact of race relations legislation in the UK.
To mark the 50th anniversary of the 1968 Race Relations Act, the House of Commons has appointed artist Scarlett Crawford to lead a UK-wide art project.
Communities across the UK have come together to share memories of life in the UK over the past 50 years and to celebrate the people who have made a difference, the project has captured the voices of the people the Act most affected.
Working with Race Council Cymru, communities in Swansea have now created a special exhibition telling their story.
Scarlett Crawford is a British artist who is passionate about equality and diversity. Her photographic work examines race and class and uses lens-based media to create images that portray the stories of underrepresented people.
First Waves: Exploring the impact of race relations legislation in the UK was commissioned by The Speaker’s Advisory Committee on Works of Art, House of Commons.
During January 2019, art works created with communities across the country will come together to form an exhibition in Parliament’s Westminster Hall.
