Join the Tŷ Hafan Character Chase and find your family favourites!
Ty Hafan, the children’s hospice in Wales, is launching its first ever Character Chase, which will see fundraising families mixing and interacting with their favourite characters from story books, TV shows and films. The Character Chase will take place on Saturday 27 April in Singleton Park, Swansea.
In this charity fun run with a twist, children and adults take on either a 100m or a 5km route. All along the route they’ll meet tiny tots, winter princesses, storm troopers, heroes, villains and a host of spectacular characters! Salute the storm troopers, pirouette with the princesses, hiss at the villains and high five the heroes as you make your way to the finish.
Once you’ve completed their course, participants can make their way to the finish that ends happily ever after! Collect their medals, pose for photos with their favourite characters and soak up the atmosphere in the event village.
“We’re a place where memories are created and cherished. It’s about joy, laughter and friendship, so we think that this brand new Character Chase will help people create happy memories and have great fun”, said Jodie Harris, Events Manager at Tŷ Hafan.
“As we reach our 20th anniversary, nursing has changed significantly. But we have risen to the challenge, delivering quality paediatric palliative care to families across Wales. But we can only deliver our life line services with the kindness and generosity of our fundraising supporters. That’s why we’re asking people to be part of this one magical day, and help reach one big target of £40,000 to help us prepare for the next 20 years”.
Participants – who can be in fancy dress if they like – can choose between the 100 metre run for under 5s (who must run with a responsible adult) and will include the tiny tots characters, and the 5 kilometre run which is open to anyone aged over five.
In addition to the small registration fee, Tŷ Hafan is asking participants to set themselves a target of £15 sponsorship for the 100 metre run and £50 for the 5k run (£20 for under 16s). Although the charity is stressing that any amount would be warmly welcomed!

- 100m Run (under 5’s): £5 registration fee
