Go in search of the ghostly White Lady – if you dare!
Lovers of all things Halloween can try to witness a celebrated Swansea character next week.
The 12th century Oystermouth Castle, reputedly home to a ghostly White Lady, is hosting a new Halloween event inspired by American-style haunted houses.
The Haunted Castle of Horrors experience, featuring creepy special effects and live actors, is being staged by Swansea Council.
Robert Francis-Davies, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Investment, Regeneration and Tourism, said: “This is an exciting new offer in our ongoing events programme for the city, helping to attract visitors and extending the traditional tourism season.”
Like many castles, Oystermouth – with its maze of secret corridors and staircases – is thought to have its own resident ghost.
Castles have a gruesome history and are not for the faint-hearted – especially at night – so this event is ideal for Oystermouth.
Visitors to the Haunted Castle of Horrors will be encouraged to carefully navigate their way through the vaults and ancient corridors. Organisers promise surprises around every corner.
The Haunted Castle of Horrors takes place at Oystermouth Castle next Wednesday, October 31, from 6-9.30pm, with three time slots available, each lasting up to half an hour.
The event is suitable for those aged eight and over. Under 16s should be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets are £6 per person (including a drink) and entry is strictly with a pre-booked ticket only. For full details visit swansea.gov.uk/oystermouthcastle.
