Swansea film fans are being invited to one of the city’s movie events of the year.
Hugh Jackman musical spectacular The Greatest Showman is to be shown on the Castle Square Big Screen for two nights on 5 & 6 October.
There will be on-street circus performances as part of the free-entry Swansea Council event – and street food to buy.
Robert Francis-Davies, the council’s cabinet member for investment, regeneration and tourism, said: “This will be a tremendously immersive, outdoor cinema experience – great fun for the whole family.
“The film is a stellar, all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza; the additional attractions in and around Castle Square will add extra fun and sparkle to the event.
“It will be a memorable two nights. I urge entertainment lovers to get their top hats on and warm up those vocal cords!”
The Greatest Showman will air for free on the Big Screen in Castle Square on October 5 with activities taking place from 4-8pm.
The film, released last year, tells the story of PT Barnum (Jackman) and his life as a circus and museum entrepreneur. Stars include Michelle Williams and Zac Efron.
The Castle Square event celebrates Swansea city centre’s ongoing status as Wales’ only Purple Flag location – reflecting excellence in the evening and night-time economy.
It will form part of The Swansea Fringe, a celebration of music, poetry, film, comedy, family events and more.
Joe Bayliss, of the Fringe, said: “We’re happy to be growing the Fringe with the support of BID and guest event curators such as Swansea Council.
“The big screen event promises to be one of Swansea’s most enjoyable cinema experiences of the past few years.
“Other Fringe highlights include Wales Book Of The Year winner Robert Minhinnick presenting his recent collaborative film Diary Of The Last Man and a performance by poet Paul Henry and singer-songwriter Brian Briggs (Stornoway) of their seminal The Glass Aisle.
“More than 200 musicians, comedians, poets and visual artists will perform across the weekend in a heap of city centre venues.”
