Swansea City Centre gets into full festive swing with events and entertainment to bring you a memorable Christmas shopping experience!
The traditional red and green chalets make a welcome return to Oxford Street from 24 November to 21 December. Over 50 traders will be offering a fantastic selection of arts, crafts, fine foods, beautiful decorations and unique gifts. Enjoy festive food on the go, chill out with a mulled wine or shop till you drop!
At the heart of the City Centre and serving shoppers throughout the year, is the magnificent Swansea Market. With all the ingredients for a perfect Christmas and open every day from 7 November until Christmas Eve, you’ll have no problem checking off your shopping list. Also open on Sundays 10.00am – 4.30pm (13 November until Christmas Day).
Santa will be taking up residence in his Grotto on Portland Street from 24 November to 21 December to grant Christmas wishes and spread festive cheer. There will also be an opportunity to have a photo taken with Santa! Visit swanseachristmas.com for full details including opening times and prices. On Saturday 17 December, Santa’s reindeer will be flying in. Come and meet them on Oxford Street from 11am until 3pm.
From 26 November, FREE entertainment and activities will be taking place in the City Centre including choirs entertaining shoppers in Swansea Market, Santa’s Post Office in Shoppers’ Walk Arcade, Dickensian characters and performances from local groups on Oxford Street. There will also be a live Nativity scene, kids activities, Carols in the Square and more!
- Christmas Cookibods: Saturday 26 November (10am – 4pm) Kids can take a break from the shopping and enjoy making their own delicious festive treats at one of the Christmas Market chalets.
- A Crafty Christmas: Sunday 27 November (10am – 4pm) Let the kids get creative and design their own Christmas decorations at the Christmas Market. Lots of inspiration and ideas from the artists and crafters!
- Live Nativity Scene: Saturday 10 December (10.30am – 3pm) Visit Swansea Christmas Market and enjoy the live nativity scene on Oxford Street. Mary and Joseph will be there with their trusty donkey and joined by gorgeous lambs, a friendly pony and cheeky goats. Children can pet and interact with all the animals for a truly memorable festive day out.
- Carols in the Square: Wednesday 14 December (7pm – 8pm) Swansea Hope Choir invites one and all to come together, enjoy festive performances and sing carols in Castle Square.
- Santa’s Reindeer: Santa’s reindeer will be flying in to the City Centre on Saturday 17 December. They’ll be enjoying some rest from their training schedule in preparation for the ‘big night’ and taking up residence outside Santa’s Grotto at the junction of Portland Street and Oxford Street. Come and say hello to these gorgeous animals between 11am and 3pm and enjoy a bit of Christmas magic in Swansea City Centre.
Hands full of shopping bags?
A good shopping trip usually means lots of bags, but sometimes it can be a struggle to carry them all around.
