Noel Gallagher Headlines Great Line-up in Singleton Park, Swansea
One of the biggest selling artists in the world of music over the past 20 years, Noel Gallagher brings his generation defining songs and band High Flying Birds to Singleton Park, Swansea on Friday September 2. Noel, on his first ever visit to Swansea, will be headlining a terrific night of music in a beautiful setting.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds top a bill that also features Scotland’s Indie Rock pioneers Frightened Rabbit, recent Ivor Novello & Mercury Music Award nominee Gaz Coombes and widely touted Welsh rock outfit Pretty Vicious.
The concert is promoted by Orchard Entertainment who had great success last summer in Singleton Park with Paolo Nutini, and previously with Kings of Leon at the Liberty Stadium.
Noel Gallagher has emerged as a highly successful solo artist from the mega days of Oasis, attracting rave reviews across the board for his High Flying Birds live shows, and is currently just finishing up a fourth sold out Arena tour of the UK. His live shows are an impressive mix of songs from his contemporary catalogue, with iconic anthems of the last century, such as Don’t Look Back in Anger, Half the World Away and Champagne Supernova. Noel said: “I wasn’t ready for the positive reaction to my solo albums and shows, I was amazed that it got to an arena level so quickly.”
His most recent album, Chasing Yesterday entered the UK charts at #1 last year, and was the UK’s fastest first week seller in 2015. Since then Noel and the band have completed Arena tours of the UK, toured North & South America, Europe and Australia as well as headlining at Scotland’s T in the Park, Latitude Festival and Japan’s prestigious Fuji Rock Festival. Noel won the much coveted Ivor Novello Award (Ivor) for Outstanding Song Collection in 2013, and the NME Godlike Genius Award in 2012.
Support acts include…
Frightened Rabbit
Frightened Rabbit have just released their 2nd album Painting of a Panic Attack, which is receiving rave reviews amongst the critics and follows the success of their Top 10 album debut Pedestrian Verse. The band will be featuring songs from both highly acclaimed albums at Singleton Park
Gaz Coombes
Another Ivor nominee on the bill is Gaz Coombes, ex-frontman of Supergrass, whose own solo career is soaring with a Mercury Prize nomination for his album Matador, and labelled “a bastion of British songwriting” by the Guardian.
Pretty Vicious
Pretty Vicious have been attracting rave reviews and fans alike since they broke through last year with their explosive live set that merges an angry adrenalin rush with a genuine punk rock edge. The Merthyr four piece supported the Manic Street Preachers at Cardiff Castle, headlined the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury, and count the likes of uber-tastemakers Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens amongst their champions.
The Regional Promoter of the Year award winning Orchard Entertainment is part of the Orchard Media and Events Group, Wales’ biggest independent music promoter. They are supported on the Singleton Park concert by the City and County of Swansea.
