Have you tried making felt? Or especially Nuno Felt? Well on August 17th during the Festival of Stitch you can with the fabulous Felt Workshop with Mandy Nash. It will be suitable for beginners or the more experienced to discover the delights of Nuno Felt.
Our tutor Mandy Nash is one of the cream of Welsh textile artists that are giving workshops in Swansea Museum and this will definitely be one not to miss.
Mandy is a talented maker, regional co-ordinator and exhibitions officer of the International Feltmakers Association, a member of the Makers Guild in Wales, the Association of Contemporary Jewellery and MaP, a textile group. She has exhibited widely in the UK, Europe, Japan, USA and Canada and since 1990 a key member of the Model House in Llantrisant.
Mandy will be exploring textures in Nuno felt. She will bring all that is required on the day at small cost, the only thing to bring will be a couple of old towels and plastic bags to take your work home in. With no large requirement list, it’s a workshop when you can just relax and enjoy.
Nuno Felt is the blending of fabrics and fleece, and on the day we will make samples so you can learn the process involved. The workshop will include using resists that can then be processed into vessels, hats, wall -pieces – which could be a starting point for hand or machine embroidery.
This promises to be workshop of fun, colour and learning. The workshop costs £25 and a there is an additional payment to Mandy for fleece/fabrics. This is a great opportunity to learn from a talented Welsh artist.
