Swansea University is gearing up for the British Science Festival, which begins on Tuesday 6 September. Join us to explore a whole host of subjects, from sport to music, space to genetics, and climate change to cyber security.
There are more than 100 free events taking place over four days (Tuesday 6 – Friday 9 September) both on campus and throughout the city – including a science takeover in Uplands, ‘sonic kayaking’ in Swansea Bay, and a beach party with fireworks.
Celebrity guests include Channel 4’s Rick Edwards, J. Willgoose Esq. from Public Service Broadcasting, TV presenter Dallas Campbell and historian Amanda Foreman, as well as internationally renowned scientists, including former Swansea graduate, Lyn Evans who runs the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, NASA’s George Abbey and psychologist Professor Uta Frith.
What’s more, this is followed by a Family Weekend, with entertainment, hands-on activity and fun for all the family. Taking place at the National Waterfront Museum and surrounding venues, you’ll be able to celebrate Roald Dahl’s centenary with CBBC’s Jon Chase, get creative with arts and crafts, or take part in the astronaut bootcamp!
All tickets are free, but booking is recommended.
