BBC National Orchestra of Wales – Beethoven & BrucknerBrangwyn Hall, 12 Jun 2015, 7.30pmThe exhilarating Stephen Hough returns to the Brangwyn for our season finale, alongside Beethoven’s third piano concerto, one of Thomas Søndergård’s favourite works. Stephen’s performances have gained a glowing reputation for brilliance and elegance, and we eagerly await his visit. We complete the season with Bruckner’s intense final symphony, his eighth. Bruckner didn’t live to complete his ninth symphony, but in his intense and tumultuous eighth he wrote some of his most breathtaking music.
Alfie Boe – Summer in Singleton21 June, 4pm, Singleton Park, Tickets. Alfie Boe is playing Singleton Park as part of Summer in Singleton, a one day music spectacular. Swansea’s Mal Pope will compère the entertainers. A one-day music spectacular. Speaking ahead of the event’s confirmation, headliner Alfie Boe, the biggest selling British tenor who led the cast of Les Misérables and stole the show at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace, said, “It’s always a joy to perform in Wales, the audiences there are great and love good music with a passion. Looking forward to my return to Swansea.” Summer in Singleton’s range of theatre, operatic and blues tunes will bring a diverse audience to the park.
