The grand final of one of Wales’ greatest singing competitions, whose distinguished past winners have included Trystan Llyr Griffiths, Fflur Wyn, Rebecca Evans and Bryn Terfel. With performances by the finalists and the Morriston Orpheus Choir, this promises to be a fabulous afternoon’s entertainment.
MOCSA (Morriston Orpheus Choir Supporters’ Association) has a long history of supporting the Morriston Orpheus Choir and helping to encourage young Welsh singers. It has been staging an annual singing competition since 1977.
The competition attracts entrants from music colleges across the UK. The four finalists competing at this year’s event have been selected following a series of heats and will perform before a distinguished adjudication panel at the grand final.
This year’s winner will be presented with The MOCSA Young Welsh Singer of the Year Trophy, sponsored by Gravells of Kidwelly, and The Ivor E Sims Memorial Prize of £2,000, donated by the Choir. Each of the other finalists will receive an inscribed plaque and a cheque for £300.
This event provides a unique opportunity to see and hear some of our country’s best up-and-coming classically-trained soloists, and to experience concert performances from one of the leading Welsh Male Voice Choirs.
