You can enjoy this classic opera for free on Swansea’s Big Screen on Wednesday 10 June.
On Wednesday, the beautiful, heartbreaking arias and duets from Puccini’s celebrated opera La Bohème will be broadcast across South Wales live from London’s The Royal Opera House, with music lovers in Swansea getting the chance to catch the performance for free on the city’s Big Screen in Castle Square.
For those wary of the weather, tickets can also be bought to watch it indoors at selected theatres as well, including Swansea University’s Taliesin Arts Centre, Odeon and Vue.
Set in the Bohemian Paris of the 1830s the colourful and vibrant Latin Quarter contrasts against the tender and ultimately tragic love story. There have been more than 500 performances on Covent Garden Stage, and the live screening is the perfect opportunity to see this beloved production without travelling to London.
The tragic story of the penniless poet and seamstress begins on Christmas Eve where the two meet, but their happiness is threatened when Rodolfo discovers that Mimì is gravely ill. Starring Anna Netrebko and Joseph Calleja as Mimì and Rodolfo, the ill-fated lovers.
This is a free event!
