We’re so excited! Our much loved Wales National Airshow or #WNAS15 is back on in stunning Swansea Bay, 11 and 12 July, all weekend . There’s already an excitement building for this year’s spectacular air displays and entertainment. Can you remember the last time we witnessed this event in 2013? If you missed it, here are 10 facts to get you geared up for this year. We hope to see you all there!
At the last airshow…
- 180k visitors attended the 2013 event weekend.
- It was a very hot day and people enjoyed picnics on the beach.
- The event was worth a cool £8m to the local economy.
- Over 50 stalls from businesses stretched along Swansea Prom from the Civic Centre West car park to the bottom of Sketty Lane.
- The event attracted people from across the UK and beyond.
- Crowds sprawled the breadth of Swansea Bay, from the Civic Centre to Mumbles.
- Ground displays from the British Army, RAF and Royal Navy lined the promenade.
- Air displays included The Red Arrows, Typhoon, Tucano, Tutor, Redbull Matador Aerobatic Team, Brietling Wingwalkers, Tigers parachute team, Royal Navy Wildcat and RAF Sea King Helicopters – a spectacular vista for beach crowds.
- Ground displays on the promenade included a Red Arrow simulator ride and Hawk jet, a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight simulator ride, an Army assault course, inflatables, trade stands, cookery demos and a funfair.
- There were ice cream vans, stalls and beach cafés on tap.
